TONIGHT'S general election hustings in Dumbarton has been called off following Monday night's terror attack in Manchester.

The event, set to take place at the Concord Centre in Dumbarton this evening, had been organised by local trade unions Unison, Unite, GMB, EIS and Clydebank Trade Union Council.

But they have taken the decision to cancel the meeting which would have seen parliamentary candidates Martin Docherty of the SNP, Penny Hutton from the Conservatives, Labour representative Jean Anne Mitchell and Rebecca Plenderleith of the Liberal Democrats present their policies to those who gathered.

Tom Morrison, secretary of Clydebank TUC said: "Due to the events in Manchester, the Trade Union organised hustings in the Concord Centre has been cancelled."
