A SHOPKEEPER was left 'badly shaken' after he was threatened with a knife in a daylight robbery in Paisley.

A balaclava-clad man walked into the Value Right Local Shop in Barscube Terrace at around 1.20pm yesterday brandishing the weapon before demanding money from the member of staff.

No-one was injured but the suspect stole hundreds of pounds.

Police are now making enquries and gathering CCTV footage.

Officers said the suspect had a very slim build and was around 5 ft 7 in tall.

He was wearing a black hooded top and navy blue trousers which may have been tracksuit bottoms.

He was also wearing a black balaclava and black gloves.

When he left the store he got on a silver-coloured mountain bike and headed in the direction of Hunterhill Road.

Detective Sergeant Michael Lochrie said:“This incident occurred around lunchtime in a well-established residential area.

"I am appealing to members of the community to consider what they may have seen yesterday, it may seem an insignificant event but it could prove vital and help us identify the suspect.

"Perhaps, you noticed the suspect either prior to, or following the incident, did you see someone on a silver mountain bike?

"If you have any information or knowledge then please do pass it on. The shop is regularly used by members of the local community and I’m sure someone will have seen something which could assist our investigation.”

Anyone with information is asked to call CID officers at Paisley Police Station via 101, quoting reference number 1541 of 23 May 2017.
