A DUMBARTON singing star won three top trophies at the recent Highlands and Islands Music and Dance Festival.
Kirsty Spicer (18), scooped two first and a second prize in the three soloist competitions she sang in.
Kirsty started singing in primary school and has won many trophies at the Greenock and Oban festivals, but this was a special occasion for her as it was the first time she had competed in the adult section.
Her songs varied from show songs to classical and traditional Scottish.
Kirsty’s rendition of ‘He’s Aye Kissing Me’ won her the superb Argyll Oils Bowl and the praise of adjudicator Heather Moore who said to Kirsty it was “a lovely saucy, lilting song,
sung with flirtatious facetiousness and a sparkle in your eye.”
After the competition Kirsty was invited to sing at the Concert of Champions in the Corran Halls and held her audience captive with a beautiful performance of her show song.
