BRIDGE of Weir Community Council has called for further protection of green-belt land in the village.
The message was put to a senior officer from Renfrewshire Council’s planning department at the group’s May meeting during discussions on the Main Issues Report, which lays the foundations for the area’s Local Development Plan.
Residents in attendance also highlighted the cumulative effect any further housing developments would have on school capacity, GP services, roads and infrastructure.
Problems with parking in the village centre were also high on the agenda, with the community council currently involved in the Scottish Government’s Improving Parking consultation.
Also at the meeting, police reported recent crimes including sheep worrying on Torr Road and vandalism to flower beds at Bridge of Weir Primary School.
The next meeting will be held on Tuesday, June 6 at 7pm in Bridge of Weir Primary School.
