An Alexandria housing development has celebrated the impact of volunteers on its tenants, as part of celebrations of Volunteers’ Week.
Oakbank joined 35 other developments from Bield in helping to celebrate the volunteers that play a part in the lives of their tenants, from providing a listening ear for tenants’ problems to helping to run various events including day trips, bingo nights and musical events.
The celebrations saw the development welcome Dumbarton MSP Jackie Baillie and social club chairperson Michael Doherty to present certificates to volunteers, as well as hosting a raffle, tombola and treating guests to soup, home baking and hot drinks.
Ruth Bowen, volunteer development manager at Bield, said: “The work our volunteers do at Bield is invaluable to our tenants and the community.
“We are so appreciative to everyone who gets involved with us and helps improve the lives of everyone across the country.
“The tenants, their families and our staff rely on those individuals who give up their time to lend a hand to others and we are so grateful for them.
“It is great to show them how much we value their hard work by taking part in Volunteers Week and we hope they have enjoyed the celebrations.”
