The Scottish SPCA is appealing to pet owners across Dumbarton and the Vale animal lovers to help feed unwanted and abandoned dogs at their Milton rehoming centre.
Staff at the centre on Dumbarton Road are currently caring for 46 dogs, and supplies of food are running in high demand, leading to the call for locals to donate what they can for the cause.
Joe McDade, centre manager, said: “We're going through a lot of food at the moment as we have such a large number of abused, abandoned and injured dogs in our care.
“We have a particular need for Chappie meat and any donations would be greatly appreciated.
“Last year we took in nearly 400 dogs and this year is proving to be equally as challenging, so if the public could get behind our appeal it would be fantastic.
“They’ll be helping dogs like one year old Woody, a sweet crossbreed who loves meeting new people.
“We’re sure local animal lovers would like to play their part in helping the rehabilitation of rescued dogs.
“Anyone who hands in food is more than welcome to have a look round the centre and say hello to some of the dogs they’ll be helping us feed.”
Those interested in helping out can make donations via the charity's Amazon wish list, or handed into the centre personally.
