TALENTED young musicians from across Dumbarton and the Vale showed off their skills at a special competition organised by Dumbarton Rotary Club.

The competition, which was held in the Riverside Church, saw 10 entrants from local schools competing and performing in front of a “very appreciative” audience, who were well entertained on the evening.

John Spence, a pupil at Gavinburn Primary, played his way to the 1st place prize for his violin performance, with Rachel Rodger, from St Michael’s Primary, finishing second for her clarinet skills.

Erin Docherty, from Bonhill Primary, claiming third playing the tenor horn.

A spokesman for the Rotary Club told the Reporter: “A nice evening of entertainment was enjoyed by Rotarians, school pupils and their families.”
