THERE will be more misery for train passengers after an announcement today that there will be additional disruption to local rail services from this Saturday.

The ScotRail Alliance announced earlier this week that a bus replacement service would in operation between Dumbarton Central and Balloch due to bridge works in Bank Street, Alexandria.

However, The Reporter can today reveal that an additional bus replacement scheme will run over the next three weekends – and extend to other parts of the region – due to further ScotRail engineering work.

Scotrail announced a bus service will run to and from Dumbarton Central on Balloch and Helensburgh Central lines, and from Glasgow Queen Street and Glasgow Central on September 16, 17, 23, 24, 30 and October 1.

West Dunbartonshire Council have also put diversions in place for motorists for vehicles driving in Dumbarton and Clydebank to make sure Scotrail replacement buses arrive on time and avoid traffic congestion.

In Dumbarton diversions will be in place at Station Road between Church Street and College Street.

And in Clydebank, Dumbarton Road between Swindon Street and Pattison Street, Park Road between Second Avenue and South View (east side only) will all be restricted in part or in whole on the dates of the Scotrail bus services.

Dumbarton will also be hit with diversions on Station Road between Church Street and College Street.

Passengers and motorists are advised to check their routes in advance.
