THE Bowling Harbour Project are gearing up to celebrate the Castle to Crane Boat Race this Saturday with a fun-filled festival.

The festival is designed to make the most of the race, which begins at Dumbarton Castle from 10am.

Those attending this weekend will get the chance to wander around the harbour, the gateway to the Forth & Clyde Canal, and watch up to 80 rowing boats as they pass Bowling on their way to the Finnieston Crane in Glasgow.

On the day there will be plenty of activities, workshops and events on and off the water.

Highlights include woodcraft with John Woodcock, historic films of the area with Concord Community Cinema, craft activities with the The Bowling Harbour Project, pony trekking and a beach litter pick.

You can also discover the history and prosperity of the Dunkirk Little Ship, Skylark IX with Skylark Trust, and find out more about the work of the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds (RSPB) and Sustrans.

In addition you can take part in a range of fun activities with Scottish Waterways Trust, all against a backdrop of acoustic music, there's canoe hire, stand up paddle boarding hire, water zorbs, soft archery and garden games.

Entry to the festival is free.
