A MAN has been jailed for throwing a scaffolding pole through the living room window of his ex-partner’s home, despite knowing she was inside.

Jason Gilmour carried out the attack in Miller Road, Alexandria, around 1am on April 23 this year while his ex was at home with two friends.

The 27-year-old appeared from custody at Dumbarton Sheriff Court on Friday to be sentenced for the incident, which stemmed from his former girlfriend telling him to “pack his belongings” after he showed up at a pal’s house intoxicated hours earlier.

Depute fiscal Craig Wainwright said: “He attended [the victim’s home] but could not gain entry to the common close. He was shouting and asking [to be let in], they ignored him.

“One witness heard him pick something up and she decided to move away from the sofa they were sitting on and then observed a large scaffolding pole smash through the window and land on the floor directly in front of the sofa where they had been sitting.”

Gilmour, whose address is listed as unknown in court papers, then began to shout at the victims before making off resulting in a police hunt.

His defence agent said his client had been in custody since July 25 this year and had a matter at the high court “dealt with” on September 27.

He added: “He’s 27, he’s single and he resides in the Ayrshire area. He plead guilty at the earliest opportunity. He will be serving a sentence until January 24, 2018.”

However, Sheriff Ferguson was not convinced Gilmour deserved less than jail time for the offence.

He told Gilmour: “You’ve got all this time [in prison] on your own head by behaving in this very dangerous manner.”

Gilmour was jailed for four months, reduced from eight months on account of his guilty plea.
