A DUMBARTON dance company will be dressing head-to-toe in pink for a day of fun and games in aid of Breast Cancer Now.

Pinkie Fit, run by Stacie Cabasa, will be hosting a Wear It Pink day at Dumbarton’s Townend Bowling Club on October 20. The event run from from 12pm - 4pm.

The day will include bingo, sweepstakes, a raffle, crafts for kids and Pinkie’s Cake Shop. There will also be a variety of dance classes on offer including Strictly Pinkie Ballroom For Beginners, salsa for beginners, baby ballroom, beginners ballroom and Latin for kids.

Pinkie Fit run dance classes in Dumbarton’s DanceBase Academy and Riverside Parish Church as well as a cheerleading squad at Ben View Centre on Strathleven Place.

The aim of the Wear It Pink day is to attract as many people as possible to raise money for the cancer charity while also giving dancing a go.

Stacie said: “I have bright pink hair and everything about the dance classes is pink, so it made sense to do a breast cancer awareness day.

“I myself have lost a couple of friends and family to cancer and many others in the class have personal experience with it, so the cause is relevant. There are loads of people getting involved with a bingo class being held as well as the dance classes.”

Stacie, who is originally from Preston in Lancashire and started the Dumbarton Pinkie Fit classes last November, runs classes for dancers of all ages from two to 85.

“I’ve not been here that long,” she told the Reporter. “But I have to say there is such a community feeling and everyone is desperate to get dressed up in pink.”
