THE Scottish SPCA was delighted to welcome MSP Jackie Baillie to their animal rescue and rehoming centre in Dumbarton.

Scotland’s animal welfare charity introduced Jackie to a number of animals in their care whilst providing her with a behind the scenes tour.

Scottish SPCA chief executive Kirsteen Campbell said: “We were delighted to welcome Jackie Baillie MSP to our centre here in Dumbarton.

“It’s great to be able to showcase the fabulous work done by the team here at the centre and talk more widely about the society’s aims from increasing the maximum prison sentence for animal cruelty to tackling the illegal puppy trade.

“As can be seen by the success of our open days, our centre here in Dumbarton has real community support and it’s great to be able to meet with community representatives like Jackie.

“I know Duke, a two year old Akita, was delighted to receive more visitors!”

Jackie Baillie, MSP said: “As a pet-owner myself, it is heartbreaking to hear stories about animals which have been rescued from lives of abuse and neglect or even abandoned by their previous owners.

“Fortunately, we have a dedicated Scottish SPCA team on our doorstep who go the extra mile to look after the animals in their care and help find loving homes for hundreds of pets every year.

“If any animal-lovers out there in Dumbarton, Vale of Leven or Helensburgh are able to offer a forever home to a rescue animal, I would strongly recommend a visit to SSPCA’s Milton Animal Welfare Centre.”
