MEMBERS of the Rotary Club of Dumbarton learned how to use life-saving defibrillators at the Vale of Leven Medical Centre.
The Headstart and CPR training course demonstrated the procedure to be followed in the event of a person suffering a heart attack, including initially summoning help, using the defibrillator and administering CPR until help arrives.
The course was run by Sheenah Nelson, who was instrumental in the founding of the Helensburgh and Local district CPR/Defibrillator Association charity in 2015, which raises funds to provide publicly accessible defibrillators (PADs) in locations throughout the area.
To date 50 have been placed within the Argyll and Bute and West Dunbartonshire areas, while a total of 115 PADs had been placed in communities across Argyll and Bute, West Dunbartonshire, Stirlingshire and Perthshire, including the Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park A spokesman for the club said: “We recognise the significant benefit to the community in supporting the development of this campaign and the potential to save many more lives of local people who suffer a heart attack.”
