Five primary schools in Dumbarton were shooting for the stars at a recent netball festival hosted by Active Schools.

Mixed teams of primary five to seven pupils from St Patrick’s, St Peter’s, St Michael’s, Aitkenbar and Braehead Primaries all took part in the event at the Meadow Centre.

Each school brought along ten pupils to the festival with teams of seven playing against every other school in a round robin format.

The festival is the second of three Dumbarton netball festivals being held this school year and the top two teams overall will eventually go onto play the top two teams from the Vale and Clydebank festivals.

The third Dumbarton festival will be held on May 16, while the final will be held on June 13 at Clydebank Leisure Centre.

Emma McCluskey, Active Schools coordinator for Dumbarton, said: “Clearly the pupils have been working hard at training as the standard has improved as well as their confidence since our first festival back in November 2017.

“It’s great to see so many kids coming along, getting involved and having fun! I can’t wait to see them all again in May for our 3rd qualifier before our final in June 2018.”
