THE Scottish Housing Regulator have announced that Bellsmyre Housing Association’s regulatory engagement had been reduced from “medium” to “low”.

Bellsmyre Housing Association has been engaged with the Scottish Housing Regulator since 2012 as the association focused on improving performance and the quality of services.

In April 2016, Bellsmyre entered into a constitutional partnership with Caledonia Housing Association. A key aim of the partnership was to increase investment, protect rent levels, improve services and strengthen governance.

The recognition by the Scottish Regulator reflects the progress Bellsmyre has made with improvements in organisational performance with the association delivering improved results for tenants and service users.

Diane Williamson, chair of Bellsmyre Housing Association, told the Reporter: “This is a positive and important milestone for Bellsmyre Housing Association. I am pleased that our improvement in the past couple of years has been recognised. We still have a lot change we are committed to realising, but this decision reflects the progress we are making.

“We plan to build on our recent improvements by working with our partners, Caledonia Housing Association, West Dunbartonshire Council and the Scottish Government to bring new affordable homes to the Bellsmyre neighbourhood.”
