A DUMBARTON company is set to lose out on a contract to clean up the River Leven foreshore, council papers have revealed.

Go-Wright Ltd was one of five firms to submit tenders for the £300,000 deal, which represents the first phase of ‘enabling work’ a new waterfront path between Dumbarton Castle and the town centre.

But West Dunbartonshire Council officials have recommended that the contract should go to an Oban firm, TSL Contractors Ltd, with a report on the issue stating that the Argyll and Bute company “provided the most economically advantageous tender”.

Members of WDC’s tendering committee will be asked to approve the award of the 16-week contract, worth £318,904, next week.

A report to the council’s tendering committee said:“The estimated value of the contract is less than the budget approved by the infrastructure, regeneration and economic development committee in August 2017.”

The award of the contract is subject to the agreement of the landowners, Turnberry Homes Limited and Dumbarton FC.

Other bids were received from Covanburn Contracting Ltd of East Kilbride, Glasgow firm Luddon Construction, and Diack & McAulay Ltd of Chryston.
