A MAN who smashed the window of a car parked in Alexandria has been told by a sheriff to save up £100 by next month to pay a compensation order.

Robert Jenkins, 48, of Dumbuie Avenue, Dumbarton, pleaded guilty at the town’s sheriff court to wilfully damaging the car window with an unknown object. The incident happened on June 21 last year on the roadway on Turnbull Avenue.

His lawyer said: “He has saved up £100 but crucially needs £40 of the money for gas and electricity, so only has £60 left to put towards the compensation order.”

Sheriff Maxwell Hendry said: “I need to see the colour of your money. Sentence will be deferred until June 8 for you to bring the full £100 to court.”

Jenkins was ordained to appear.
