Police will crackdown on anti-social behaviour on the rail network after Balloch trains at the weekend were “victim to unacceptable levels of youth disorder”.

Dumbarton officers have announced a joint initiative between cops and British Transport Police following more troubles with youth disorder on Saturday, May 19.

Inspector Roderick MacNeill said: “Reports of persons engaged in disruptive behaviour were received relating to Balloch Park, Balloch Railway Station and on the trains.

Police Scotland assisted BTP to arrest a number of individuals.

“CCTV has now been recovered from various locations and the identity of others involved is being progressed. These individuals will be dealt with in due course.”

The crackdown this weekend will involve a “robust” policing style from cops and BTP to try and keep the issue under control.

Inspector MacNeill added: “As a result of last weekend's incidents, BTP and Police Scotland will be conducting a joint initiative this weekend to prevent a recurrence of such behaviour.

“A robust policing style will be adopted and any persons attending the area with criminal intent will be dealt with. Appropriate bail conditions will be sought where appropriate.”

And Inspector MacNeill has asked that parents and guardians help in preventing their children becoming involved with disorder.

He said: “Can I ask that parents and guardians are aware of their child's whereabouts and ensure they do not become involved in situations that could result in police action.”
