WEST Dunbartonshire Leisure Sports Development Service is organising a fun run for young runners alongside the Vale of Leven 10K at the Moss O’ Balloch site on Saturday, June 2.

The race will be officially started by Bonhill’s very own athletics legend, the great Lachie Stewart, 74, who won gold in the 1970 Commonwealth Gamesin the 10,000 metres.

The fun run is open to babies in buggies up to those in Primary 7. The course distance is approximate one mile for the older age groups and there is a shorter route for younger participants. The route is all off road.

Angus MacDonald, sports development officer, said: “West Dunbartonshire Leisure will ensure your child is looked after during the run. It is the parent/guardian’s responsibility to look after the participants before and after the event. All participants that run on the day will receive a goody bag.”

Registrations will take place between 8.15am and 8.40am. The cost to enter the fun run is £2.

But the highlight of the day will be the 32nd running of the Vale of Leven 10k.

The Vale of Leven has hosted a 10K for 32 years, previously under organisers Polaroid.
