Forest Enterprise Scotland is advising regular users of Kilpatrick Braes of a temporary closure at Gavinburn Road to enable repair works to the road following damage from water erosion.

Due to the nature of the works and heavy machinery used, the road will be closed in both directions between 8am and 5pm on Monday, June 18 to Friday, June 22.

Users are asked to avoid Gavinburn Road during these times in order to maintain a safe site and prompt completion of the works. The road will be open to users prior to 8am and after 5pm on each of the work days.

Regular walkers, runners and cyclists are encouraged to access Kilpatrick Braes via the Woodland Trust site at Overtoun House by Milton.

Jim Williamson, Community and Visitor Services Manager at Forest Enterprise Scotland, said: “Gavinburn Road is in need of repair to make it a more comfortable access route for recreational users and vehicle use. Forest Enterprise Scotland’s civil engineering team will oversee the road repairs, scarify the existing surface and lay new tarmac.”

As the summer holidays fast approach and the number of visitors to Kilpatrick Braes is due to increase, Forest Enterprise Scotland is intent on completing the works in advance of the busy summer months.
