ATTENDANCES of primary school pupils in West Dunbartonshire has improved over the past five years, a council committee was told last Wednesday.
WDC Education Committee was also told in a report that in the current year the attendance of secondary school pupils in the area has also increased.
However, Education Scotland, in their annual breakdown told councillors that West Dunbartonshire's school attendances still remain below the national average.
The report said: "The proportion of children and young people excluded from school has declined significantly and much faster than the national average.
"As a next step there would be merit in setting specific targets for improving attendance and monitor closely the progress towards these."
