STAFF at Specsavers in Dumbarton held their own royal wedding party to celebrate an honour bestowed upon Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.

The store, in the High Street within the Artizan Shopping Arcade, celebrated the couple being named Earl and Countess of Dumbarton with a day of marking everything that makes Dumbarton a great place to live and work.

One member of staff was particularly delighted to hear about Meghan and Harry’s local connection.

Dispensing optician Vigil Marie Garcia moved from California to Dumbarton when she was 10 and is now studying to be an optometrist.

Vigil said: "I am so happy that an American has joined the Royal Family in 2018.

"I think it’s a great thing for Dumbarton. If Meghan and Harry announce that they’re going to visit the town at some point, I am sure people will turn out in their droves to see them.

"Dumbarton has some fantastic scenery and it’s a great place to work, and that’s definitely something to be celebrated.

"It’s great to know that it now has the royal seal of approval."
