Police have announced that the man killed in the two vehicle crash on the A82 near Loch Lomond on Friday was a foreign national.

The road was closed after the accident at around 2pm when a grey Volkswagen Golf, which had just emerged from the A817 Garelochhead-Luss road, and a northbound single decker bus collided between Arden and Luss.

The driver of the Golf died at the scene. His 28-year-old female passenger, who is also a foreign national, suffered serious head injuries and was taken by ambulance to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital where she remains for treatment. Medical staff describe her condition as critical.

The 54-year-old bus driver, and his 18 passengers, were uninjured.

Constable Karen McCann, of Police Scotland’s road policing unit in Dumbarton, said: “A number of people stopped to assist at the crash and we have spoken to a number of people travelling behind the bus at the time.

“However, we are keen to hear from witnesses, or indeed anyone with dash-cam footage, who were travelling south towards Dumbarton and who saw the crash take place.”
