DUMBARTON Academy waved goodbye to its latest crop of senior pupils at their annual leavers’ ceremony.

On June 14, an audience of proud parents, teachers and upcoming senior pupils attended the high school and watched as the teenagers closed the book on their secondary education.

As well as reflecting on their time at the high school, the pupils were also given awards as a record of their achievements during their senior school years.

One leaver Emma Irvine was commended with Bronze, Silver and Gold Duke of Edinburgh awards as well as the Mark Scott Award.

The school’s captains Ross Banks and Katie Black alongside vice-captains Grace Powell and Niamh Austin then took a trip down memory lane with a look back at all the great memories from the seniors’ time at the school.

A video presentation gave the pupils a chance to say thank you to all the people who had helped them along the way and those at the school who have prepared them for the next step in their journey.

Pupils later enjoyed a leavers dance at five-star hotel, Mar Hall, where they were able to celebrate completing secondary education with dancing, food and fun.

Many of the pupils are now heading off to embark on further or higher education, apprenticeships or full-time employment, with all the experiences and lessons from high school guiding them on.
