The Reporter understands Bonhill Primary School’s head teacher Maria Seery has stuck by her wish to resign, with the school’s deputy head now set to take the helm for the interim until a new head is found.
Last month, Ms Seery was said to have resigned amidst a reported dispute over access to school disabled parking bays.
The Reporter was shown a letter from West Dunbartonshire Council’s chief education officer, Laura Mason, dated June 27, which is said to have been circulated to parents of pupils to inform them of the change in leadership.
In the letter, Ms Mason thanked Ms Seery for her “commitment to education” and expressed “regret” that she had chosen to resign.
The letter stated: “You will be aware that two weeks ago Ms Seery shared her intention to resign from her position as head teacher of Bonhill Primary with education staff and Bonhill Primary parents.
“We have had further discussions with Ms Seery, however her position remains that she wishes to resign from her post."
West Dunbartonshire Council was approached for comment.
