Patients and visitors travelling by train to the Vale of Leven Hospital are being shown the way by new signs at Balloch and Alexandria stations.

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHS GGC), working with ScotRail, arranged for the signs to be installed to point people in the right direction when heading to the hospital.

Marie Farrell, NHS GGC’s director for the Clyde area, told the Reporter: “We do get patients from all over the area coming to the Vale for appointments and also people visiting friends and family.

“We became aware that for those coming in by train, some of which may not know what direction to go in if they are not local.

“It’s a very simple thing but we hope it can help highlight the hospital, which is a very big part of the local community.”

The new signs are part of a wider awareness campaign which aims to highlight the hospital and the services it provides for local people.

West Dunbartonshire Council leader Jonathan McColl added: “We are keen to work with the NHSGGC to raise awareness of the location of the Vale of Leven Hospital.

“It’s great to see the new signs displayed at both stations which will help direct visitors to the hospital.”
