POLICE have closed the A82 trunk route on Loch Lomondside because of a serious accident involving a motorbike and a van.

The road has been closed between Balloch and Tarbet, with traffic in both directions being diverted via the A811, A81, A84 and A85 via Balloch, Aberfoyle and Callander.

The collision happened at Stuckgowan, south of Tarbet. Emergency services are on the scene.

The A82 was initially closed between the Arden roundabout and Tarbet, but the southern end of the closed section was later extended to the Balloch roundabout, making the A814 via Cardross the only access route to and from Helensburgh.

The closure is also leading to long delays on the single-track A814 between Arrochar and Garelochhead, along the shore of Loch Long, which is not suitable for HGVs.
