THE A82 trunk road has reopened on Loch Lomondside after a serious road accident.

The crash, involving a motorbike and a van, happened at Stuckgowan, south of Tarbet, just before 12 noon on Thursday.

The road was closed between Tarbet and Arden southbound, and between Stoneymollan and Tarbet northbound, for around five hours to allow emergency services to attend the crash and carry out investigation work.

Traffic was diverted via Gartocharn, Aberfoyle and Callander, though there were also reports of long delays on the A814 between Arrochar and Garelochhead as some drivers chose the single track road as an alternative diversion route.

A second, less serious, accident was reported on the A814 Cardross Road in Dumbarton on Thursday afternoon, causing further delays to traffic heading to and from Helensburgh.

Traffic Scotland announced just after 5pm that the road had reopened, but warned drivers that delays were still likely in the area.

As this article was published there was no indication of the extent of any injuries suffered by those involved in the crash.
