A DUMBARTON man has been jailed for 20 months after going into a shop high on drugs and armed with a knife.
Alexander Gordon, 22, who’s address was given as a prisoner of Low Moss Prison, Bishopbriggs, was caught by police in possession of a knife at the shop USAVE, Hawthornhill Road, Dumbarton, and in Cardross Road, on April 17.
Defence lawyer Kenny McGowan told Dumbarton Sheriff Court last Wednesday: “He has an unexpired portion of a previous sentence of just under one year.
“This offence does him no credit. He is willing to comply with any help and support that can be given to him.”
Sheriff Maxwell Hendry told Gordon: “The report makes very bleak reading. You were under the influence of drugs, in a shop and in possession of a knife. Who knows what could have happened? Fortunately nothing did.
“Here you are at just 22 years of age, barely into your adult life, and committing what is an extremely serious matter. There is nothing I can do but impose a custodial sentence.”
