Thousands of visitors from across the world bathed in the sunshine while enjoying this year’s annual Loch Lomond Highland Games.

Moss O'Balloch Park welcomed more than 8,000 visitors from as far afiled as China, Canada, the USA, Italy and France on Saturday, as it hosted a spectacular range of highland game competitions, including cycling, running, hammer throwing and heavy weights and the traditional tossing of the caber and tug-of-war.

Entertainment was on point, with highland dancers performing traditional routines, and rousing music provided from Helensburgh and Clan Colquhoun and Tulliallan Pipe Bands.

Ten-year-old Canadian Highland Dancer, Fiona Urquhart, from Lethbridge, Alberta, loved taking part in the day.

“I had a great time today and I was very proud to dance in front of my Scottish family," she said.

"I started Scottish dancing as my grandparents were both Scottish dancers.”

The Chieftain of the Loch Lomond Highland Games, Major James Macrae, was delighted the weather had been kind - resulting in an increased turn-out to this year's event.

He said: "I would like to thank everyone who played their part in making this year’s games a huge success.

"On behalf of the committee, I would like to thank our contestants and sponsors, in particular West Dunbartonshire Council, for their continued support."

West Dunbartonshire Depute Provost, Councillor Karen Conaghan, added: "What a fantastic day and the great weather certainly helped bring out the crowds.

"Well done to all the competitors for putting on such a great show and thanks to the spectators for supporting the high quality sport we saw."

“It’s lovely to see so many people who have travelled here to enjoy this great event."
