A HOUSING developer behind plans for up to 140 new homes in Cardross wants two planning conditions to be scrapped – and a new access route to its development site to be approved.

Avant Homes Scotland has asked Argyll and Bute Council to dump two conditions relating to its planned development at Kirkton Farm, to the north of the village, and to revise a third.

The firm wants to use Barrs Road in the village as the principal access route to the new development instead of the originally-proposed route via Darleith Road.

A document issued by Modus Transport Ltd, who conducted an access appraisal on behalf of Avant, says: “The use of Barrs Road will in fact provide a better and safer access solution for residents of the proposed development.

“The overall access solution as set out by Argyll and Bute Council is unrealistic.”

Avant’s application to vary the terms of its planning permission is now being considered by Argyll and Bute Council officials.
