People in Bonhill are being urged to spruce up their gardens for an annual competition to pick the best.

The closing date for the annual ‘Blooming Bonhill Garden Competition’ is drawing near, so time is running out to get lawns and hedges in tip top shape.

The competition, organised by Bonhill and Dalmonach community council and The Leamy Foundation, a charity which supports adults with additional needs through horticultural means, asks for one entry per household, and has a prize fund of £50 worth of gardening vouchers.

The categories being judged include the best individual garden, best yard or patio, and best community garden.

Application forms are available at local grocery stores and newsagents, as well as Alexandria Library. The closing date for entries is Friday, August 10.
