A WOMAN who was snared with drugs at a Dumbarton home has avoided a jail sentence.

Ashleigh Mundie, 28, of Ardoch Crescent, was concerned in the supply of cannabis to others from a house in Hawthornhill Road, on November 6, 2017.

Prosecutor Emma Thomson told Dumbarton Sheriff Court last Wednesday: “The Crown would move for £229 found to be forfeited.

“On November 6 a Justice of the Peace search warrant was issued and at 2pm that day police attended her home and forced entry.

“A production schedule was kept as a systematic search was carried out.

“A bag of brown resinous material was found along with various amounts of cash.

“The drugs were valued at £150. She made no comment.”

Defence lawyer Kenny Clark told the court she pleaded guilty on June 26 after the case was reduced to a summary matter from indictment.

These were drugs which were put in her house with her consent by another individual.

He said: “She pleaded guilty at the first available opportunity. She had been struggling in various matters at the end of last year.

“She agreed to hold these drugs which was extremely bad judgement and has put her liberty in jeopardy.

“She admits that her record does her no credit.”

Sheriff William Gallacher told Mundie: “You were party to the process in these drugs being circulated throughout this community.

“Had the amounts been bigger I would have sent you to prison.”

Mundie was put on a community payback order with 12 months of supervision and ordered to carry out 100 hours of unpaid work within eight months, as a direct alternative to prison.

The £229 in cash was forfeited.
