Several train services to Dumbarton are facing delays of over an hour due to a signalling fault.

The fault at Yoker has led to disruptions across the central belt rail network, leaving several passengers facing huge delays and cancellations to their service.

Services via Dumbarton Central and Balloch are facing major disruptions with some services delayed more than an hour and some not running at all.

Affected stops include Balloch,Alexandria,Renton,Dalreoch,Dumbarton Central and Dumbarton East.

This news comes after the Colin Hartley, director of the Glasgow European Championships, advised those heading to and from Glasgow today to opt for public transport due to several events taking place in and around the city.

He said previously: "Public transport or active travel are the best options, whether you're going to watch the day's sporting events or commuting to and from work.

"The local road network and motorways will all be very busy, so avoid using the car if you can."

ScotRail has since announced that the fault has been corrected but it will take some time for services to return to normal.

In a tweet they wrote: "The team have restored power to the signalling system at Yoker but remain on site to monitor this. Given the scale of the disruption this afternoon, it’ll take several hours to restore a normal service"
