UNION officials for staff across health and social care sectors want their views better represented, a meeting has heard.
Peter O’Neill, West Dunbartonshire Council’s staff side co-chair of the joint staff forum, spoke out at last week’s health and social care partnership board meeting.
He said the minutes of the previous meeting in May make no mention of the trade unions or their objection to budget cuts.
Though he is a non-voting member, he said there was also no mention in accounts of February’s meeting either.
He noted there were hundreds of pages across the minutes of meetings this year but no mention of trade unions.
Mr O’Neill said: “There should be a more inclusive note of what is agreed. There should at least be a sentence. There was a 10-15 minute discussion of this.”
Chairman Allan Macleod said: “I think the form of our minutes should reflect what we feel is appropriate.”
Councillor Marie McNair said meeting minutes are “never verbatim”.
Mr O’Neill replied: “Just a sentence noting there was dissent.”
Mr Macleod added: “You sit at the table and make a contribution. I think that needs to be reflected.”
A sentence will be added to the account of the previous meeting’s minutes.
