Almost 13,000 people are waiting for a physiotherapy appointment in West Dunbartonshire, according to new figures.

But the total has dropped from 17,100 in October 2017 and the average wait for an appointment has fallen from 73 days to 47 days.

The Health and Social Care Partnership (HSCP) board meeting last week heard an annual report on musculoskeletal services which showed about 40 per cent of patients self-refer for help, with more than 35 per cent referred from GPs.

About 29 per cent of appointments for West Dunbartonshire residents are outside the area.

The report also states hundreds of appointments are missed, with about one in 10 patients not turning up at a cost to the NHS.
