A FOOTBALL coach who was involved in a rammy at the side of the pitch during a match in Alexandria has been ordered to pay the opposition club £500 in compensation.
Scott McCallum, 45, of Rowantree Grove, Alexandria, assaulted a man by seizing him by the body, pulling him to the ground and restraining him to his injury.
The attack happened on September 4, 2016, at the playing fields at Argyll Park.
Defence lawyer Jonathan Paul said: “He contacted the other team, Rutherglen Glencairn. He tells me he is now coaching with Holytown Colts.”
Sheriff John Hamilton said: “This was a very unpleasant rammy at the side of a football pitch. I’m not convinced moving football clubs counts as punishment.”
McCallum was put on a community payback order to carry out 80 hours of unpaid work within six months.
He was also put under supervision for six months ordered to pay Rutherglen Glencairn F.C. £500 in compensation.
