Youngsters from the Vale of Leven Academy spent several days in the Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park acting as junior rangers last week.
The schoolkids had the opportunity to learn new skills and take part in a variety of activities to help with the completion of their John Muir Award during the course of four days spent in the park.
These included a survival challenge, clearing the waterbars and footpath of Ben Lomond, learning about the Fen habitat at the RSPB Scotland Loch Lomond reserve and a marine litter pick at Ardgartan on the west shore of Loch Long.
The Junior Rangers also had a go at ‘geocaching’, where they used mobile devices and other navigational techniques to hide and seek containers at specific locations in the park marked by coordinates.
