COPS are continuing to appeal for information after it was alleged an Alexandria teenager was given a tattoo.
The child, who is under 16, is believed to have been given the tattoo by an adult on Thursday, September 20.
Police are currently following a positive line of enquiry.
The offence of tattooing a minor comes under the Tattooing of Minors Act 1969 and explicitly forbids the practice.
The act states: “It shall be an offence to tattoo a person under the age of 18 except when the tattoo is performed for medical reasons by a duly qualified medical practioner.”
However, the charge can be dropped if it can be proved the practioner believed the minor to be over 18.
