THE ghosts of Dumbarton’s devilish past are set to return to the town in a mystical tour next month.

Led by professional mind-reader Cara Hamilton, phantom enthusiasts will be taken on a whistle-stop journey across the town’s ghostly sights.

And Cara, who has more than 20 years experience with the paranormal, insists the ghoulish night can’t be missed.

Cara told the Reporter: “Dumbarton has an incredible variety of dark history that even Edinburgh would be proud to have.

“Every town has its own history with its own flavour, sights, sounds and bring about their own feelings that will not sit right anywhere else.

“This tour will feature the dark, moonlit side of Dumbarton’s history, steeped in witchcraft, oozing with blood, Devil worshipping, ghosts and public executions.”

But unknown to many, Dumbarton’s ghoulish sites can be found where people go about their day-to-day lives.

Little do they know they can be buying their essentials a short distance away from the scene of witch burning and public executions just 500 years ago.

Cara continued: “People don’t realise the history they are walking over every single day.

“For instance, in the town’s high street, witches used to be burned just outside Superdrug.

“Hangmen would converge on the town and think they were quite the showmen, but they were really just drunks.

“All of their botched victims have left behind tales of gore that can’t be missed.”

Despite having performed to audiences across the world, she insists this is one of her most exciting adventures yet.

She added: “We want the audience to have a really spooky experience.

“We will see and speak to the ghosts of Dumbarton’s past and leave guests speechless.

“And as always there will be a surprise or two waiting for them.”

The Ghost Tour takes place on Sunday, October, 28 and leaves from the Denny Tank Museum at 7.30pm prompt.
