A MAN has been arrested following the alleged murder of a woman in Drumchapel.

The 57-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with the 51-year-old's death as detectives appealed for witnesses to come forward.

The woman, who has been named locally as Jeanna Maher but has not been formally identified, was discovered in a property in Dewar Drive around 6.45pm last night.

Detective Inspector Scott McCallum, of the Major Investigations Teams, said: “Officers are currently making door-to-door enquiries in the area and examining local CCTV.

"I’m appealing to members of the local community who may have any information regarding any suspicious activity or events in Dewar Drive since the morning of Wednesday, September 26, to get in touch with us.

"Please don’t dismiss anything you know as insignificant, let us be the judge of that and please do pass the details on.”

A post-mortem examination is due to be carried out and enquires are ongoing to establish the cause of her death.
