A 56-year-old man has been arrested in connection with two alleged attempts to break into properties in Balloch last week.
Police were called to an incident in Heather Avenue, Alexandria, around 7.50pm on October 10 when a woman was reportedly alerted to movement in her driveway and then to the handle to her home being tried.
Officers later traced a man and charged him with being at the property without lawful authority or excuse, where it could be inferred he was there to commit theft.
He was also charged with possession of cannabis and with breaching a previous court order.
The man was then identified in connection with an alleged attempt to break into the VisitScotland information centre in the town’s Balloch Road at around 6.25pm on the same night.
He appeared at Dumbarton Sheriff Court later.
