AN ALEXANDRIA man who made racist remarks to a police officer while he was being transported through the town will be sentenced next month.
James Halkett, of Brook Avenue, Alexandria, committed the offence on Main Street on May 29, 2018.
Dumbarton Sheriff Court heard how the 47-year-old was within a police car on a journey to Clydebank police office when he made the racist remarks.
He was also shouting and swearing during the course of the journey.
Defence lawyer Judith Reid told a court hearing on Friday: βHe needs considerable assistance.β
Sheriff Kevin Duffy deferred sentence until November 9 to get an assessment on whether Halkett might be suitable for a place on the Turnaround residential rehab programme in Paisley.
Bail was continued.
