DUMBARTON and Balloch train services are being replaced by buses this weekend because of engineering work.

Track and signalling works at Dalreoch mean that buses will replace all train services west of Dalmuir on the Balloch-Airdrie, Dumbarton-Cumbernauld and Helensburgh-Edinburgh lines on Saturday, October 20 and Sunday, October 21.

West Highland Line trains will also be replaced by buses between Glasgow Queen Street and Crianlarich.

The railway is being closed to allow engineers working for Network Rail to replace the decks of a railway bridge over Bonhill Road in Dumbarton.

Parts of Bonhill Road and Bankend Road have been closed since October 13 as part of the preparations for the work, while there will be a series of four one-hour closures on Townend Road during Saturday, October 20 to allow the bridge decks to be moved.

Overnight temporary traffic lights will also be in place on Townend Road on the night of October 22-23.
