A FAR-TRAVELLED lorry came to an unexpected halt when it became stuck under the main railway bridge in Dumbarton on Friday morning.
The truck, operated by a freight forwarding company based in the German city of Cologne, caused slight traffic disruption when its trailer section failed to clear the bridge.
Renton resident Les Robertson, who took the picture, told the Reporter: “I was on my way to the station when I heard a crunching noise. I looked round and saw a large lorry had become stuck under the bridge. The driver got out to see what had happened – he looked a bit embarrassed.”
Police told the Reporter the incident seemed to have been resolved quickly as they were not called to the scene.
A ScotRail spokesman said: “Engineers inspected the bridge, but there was no damage to the structure. Four trains were delayed but only for a total of 20 minutes.”
