Pupils did their best to duck, dive and attack at the Vale of Leven Primary four dodgeball Festival run by Active Schools last week.

Christie Park, Gartocharn, Lennox, Levenvale, Renton, St Martin’s and St Mary’s primaries all sent squads to the event at the Meadow Leisure Centre, which was part of the West Dunbartonshire School Games programme (WDSG).

For the first time the dodgeball festival was a competitive event with scores recorded.

The results could not have been closer but in the end Christie Park Primary came out on top with Renton Primary finishing second.

Both schools now progress to the West Dunbartonshire P4 Dodgeball Final at Clydebank Leisure Centre on Tuesday, November 20 where they will compete against the top two schools from the Clydebank and Dumbarton Qualifier Festivals to be crowned West Dunbartonshire Dodgeball Champions 2018-19.

Yvonne MacDonald, Active Schools coordinator for the Vale of Leven area, said: “This festival was one of dozens of WDSG events that will be delivered by Active Schools and sports development across the whole of West Dunbartonshire for primary and secondary schools to participate in during 2018-19.

“Pupils will get the chance to take part in a range of sports including basketball, cross-country, tennis and swimming, both competitively and non-competitively and gain WDSG points for their schools.”

The points gained by each school at each event will be totalled up at the end of the year and small, medium, large and secondary schools champions will be named.
