THREE second year pupils from Dumbarton Academy used their maths skills to achieve great success in West Dunbartonshire Council’s recent maths competition.

Heather McDaid was crowned winner of the S1-S3 competition, on the question of ‘why maths is important to me’, while Olivia Barbour and Jamie Wright were highly commended.

Head teacher Claire McInally said: “This task was undertaken in our pupils’ own time and we were delighted with the standard of entry we submitted. “All three pupils took time to research ‘Why maths is important to me’ and gave a personal insight into their interests and further achievements. “Their work exemplified our school values of curiosity and ambition and we are exceptionally proud of them.”
