POLICE are appealing for information about two alleged attempted break-ins in Alexandria, which they believe may be connected.

Both incidents happened in the early hours of Saturday, November 3.

A 27-year-old man was woken by a noise at the back door of his house on Main Street, Bonhill at 5.40am .

The rear security light was activated and he saw a shadow move across the garden so phoned the police.

He confirmed that the rear door lock had been damaged and a forensic examination was carried out by police.

The second alleged attempted break-in happened at 7.15am on Auchincarroch Road, Jamestown.

A man and woman, were woken by a noise at the near of their property, and the man claims that he found a male crouched down at the kitchen door attempting to gain entry.

He did not get into the property and is alleged to have run off towards Jamestown when he was disturbed.

Items found at the scene are being examined by the police.

The suspect is described as 5ft 9ins with dark hair, possibly brown, a light coloured top and dark trousers A police spokesperson said: “We are appealing to any drivers or pedestrians in Jamestown area who may have seen a man fitting this description running in direction of Haldane from Jamestown.” Phone Dumbarton on 101 if you have information.
