POLICE are carrying out an investigation after tools worth around £4,600 were stolen from the building site at the former Bonhill Primary School.

Workers who had locked the tools away in a container at the site on Friday, November 16 returned to work after the weekend to discover that the container holding the tools had been broken into and all the tools inside, including nail guns, saws and other items, stolen.

Police say the missing items included tools with the brand names of Makita, DeWalt, Passload and Hilti.

CCTV footage from the location shows a number of male and female youths at the site at around 5pm on Sunday, November 18, but police are keen to hear from anyone who saw anything suspicious in the area any time between the Friday night and the following Monday morning.

Anyone with information about the theft, or about any tools being offered for sale, is asked to contact police in Dumbarton by dialling 101.
