A BONHILL man who was convicted of a glass bottle attack has dodged a jail term.
Colin Bower, 24, of Ladyton, attacked a man at a house in Cranloch Court, also Alexandria, on April 8 last year.
Dumbarton Sheriff Court was told last week how Bower repeatedly punched his victim on the head and also threw a glass bottle.
Defence lawyer Lauren Kerr said: “He was found guilty after trial. He is very much aware of the difficulty he is facing given his previous offending. He has relocated to get away from his previous peer group. His previous offending was linked to both his alcohol intake and his immaturity.”
Sheriff John Hamilton said: “Your behaviour was unacceptable. Your drunken behaviour could have got you a severe leathering.”
Bower was put on a Community Payback Order, which included 12 months of supervision. He was also ordered to carry out 200 hours of unpaid work within the next eight months. The sheriff told him it was a direct alternative to custody.
